We get it, you don't know us yet. We're not offended. Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions.
How much do your resources cost?
Nothing. All of our resources are absolutely free for you to browse. We have provided links to the Amazon pages for certain resources, but don't take that as an endorsement.
How are you affiliated with the resources?
All resources on this website are ones we use and love ourselves, so you'll be in the best of hands. We have no official affiliations with them, so please don't hold us responsible for any content or views on their sites.
What if I find a better resource?
We've tried our hardest to find the best resources available. But we're not perfect, so there's a chance that we missed a few along the way. If you've used a resource that's not on the list, feel free to send us an email
and we'll share it on our site!
Do I need iTunes to listen to your show??
Even though we use Apple products to record and edit the show, we recognize that not everyone uses those products. That's why we've expanded to include other podcast management platforms. You can listen to the Language Happy Hour on Stitcher
, Pocket Casts
, or Soundcloud
Can I submit my study abroad or language learning story to the Language Happy Hour?
Absolutely! Do you have a story about a time you were abroad and had to use your language skills to get out of a jam? Did you realize there was a simpler way to explain a language topic than what your teacher used? We would love
more personal narratives about language learning experiences and study abroad! Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
with your story, and we'll include it in the next episode! You can alternatively tweet at us (@languagementors
) with the hashtag #languagehh
, or message us on Facebook
Is there an age limit?
Unlike in person happy hours, the Language Happy Hour, has no legal age limit. We picked the name to reflect the casual, laid-back theme of the podcast. Some episodes are catered towards college students, other episodes are designed with high school language students in mind, and others still are for seasoned professionals working in these fields. We don't believe that this needs to be said, but we're going to say it to protect ourselves:
The Language Happy Hour is designed to be a fun, casual, yet informative podcast. Please obey all laws regarding consumption of alcohol. You should not drink if you are not legally old enough to, and certainly do not drive. Please don't sue us.
Are you affiliated with the hiring organizations?
As indicated on the job board page, by including an organization on the job board, we are not necessarily supporting their mission, their means, their methods, or their goals. We are merely providing language capable personnel with information about potential jobs that will enable them to use their language skills in the work force.
You can submit your application for some jobs directly through us. We have agreements with those organizations and can guarantee your resume will be delivered to a hiring manager.
You mentioned that you can submit your resume through you, do I have to?
No you don't have to submit your resume through us. However, if you do and we feel that you are a good fit for this position, we guarantee that hiring managers will see your resume. Again, you don't have to, but it's better than sending your resume off to "the void" and never hearing back. So what's the harm?
How do I know my information is safe?
We guarantee that your information (including contact information and anything on your resume) will remain on our secured, private servers. Unless you have checked the box saying we can, we won't pass it on to any other hiring managers. We also promise we won't sell your information.
